Kyushu University will hold an international debate competition "Kyushu Debate Open 2017" (previously called "Kyushu Cup") on August 19th and 20th. This tournament adopts the British Parliamentary debate format and attracts more than 70 teams (140 participants), including those from overseas.
Our main purpose is to provide an opportunity for debaters to improve their ability to think logically, and communicate in English effectively through the competition. The Organising Committee mainly consists of students of Kyushu University,who are helped by students from other universities as well as more experienced debaters and debate educators.

|Event details||Our tournament was held in 2014 for the first time to improve "access" to join a tournament for debaters in the Kyushu area. It has become the largest English tournament of the BP debate format and now attracts debaters and adjudicators from not only Japan but also overseas. It is the only international tournament to adopt the world standard debate format in Japan.
