The Research Center for Korean Studies of Kyushu University hosted the strait college program: Bridging Japan and Korea, a joint international education program conducted with Pusan National University of Korea, from August 16th to 30th.
In this program, 50 new students from each of the two universities shared campuses, staying at each university for over two weeks to deepen mutual understanding. The program aims to develop a global human resource pool of individuals who are equipped with the ability to identify and solve common challenges, and who are knowledgeable on East Asian affairs. This is the second time this program has been conducted.
Both Japanese and Korean students attended special lectures, delivered in English as a common language, on the basis of the Japan-Korea joint curriculum entitled “What are the common challenges in East Asian society?”. They took part in a discussion comprised of mixed groups from the two universities. In addition, there were opportunities for internship programs at corporations and cultural experience programs.
Students of Kyushu University who completed the entire curriculum were awarded a certificate of attendance and two credits.
