Ekenechukwu : We also have a subcommittee for organizing extra-curricular activities, and a member of this group is here today to share their latest news.Hidemi : We will hold an international camp from March 22-23 in 2014, with capacity for 90 participants. The Language Partner Program was most successful in bringing together students from different nations and creating opportunity for cross-cultural learning. This was convened ve times this year, with 30 people participating in the most recent session. As we do not have access to any signicant budget, our activities revolve around things that don’t use much funds. We have received feedback that our activities were a lot of fun. For example, two days ago we grouped students into mixed groups who then had to discuss their own lives in a language they were not used to, allowing participants to learn about each other’s cultures and lives while practising their language skills.Ekenechukwu : We also have a representative, Nanda, from the SCIKyu publications design subcommittee.Nanda : We wish to encourage the participation of international students and foster friendship between international and Japanese students, thereby internationalizing the clubs and circles. We need to make a catalogue that has a comprehensive list of clubs and circle activities. One obstacle facing foreign students is that a lot of clubs and circles are only in Japanese, making them somewhat inaccessible to foreign students. So a club catalogue in English is really important to let them know what kind of activities there are and how to get involved. All information will be in English. We did a survey to identify the top 10 preferred clubs by students and we are now interviewing the clubs to learn more about them. We also need to give guidance about how to join clubs for people who have limited Japanese. We wish to encourage the participation of international students Kyudai News No.257ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSIONTOWARD INTERNATIONALIZATION OF KYUSHU UNIVERSITYTo foster deeper international interaction: Opening the door to foreign clubs for international students, designing the new International VillageHidemi Yamakawa : Undergraduate, School of EconomicsBodhinanda Chandra (Nanda) : Undergraduate, School of Engineering
