Students take classes in such subjectsas Japanese culture, economics and law offered by the InternationalStudent Center. The classes are taught in English, though there is also theoption of attending Japanese-language classes.Japan in Today’s World (JTW) ProgramThis program is for international students from Asia, North America,Europe and other regions, and it is held from the end of June to thebeginning of August. It consists of a Japanese-language course and anAsian research course taught in English. The Asian research course isalso open to Japanese students as a regular undergraduate course.Asia in Today’s World ProgramThis two-week program in the spring is offered jointly with prominentuniversities in the ASEAN region at their campuses. Students select anintroductory Asian-language course and ASEAN research course. KyushuUniversity students receive undergraduate course credit for the program.ASEAN in Today’s World ProgramThis is a one-year short-term study-abroad program for students enrolledat overseas universities majoring in fields related to the Japaneselanguage and culture. It is intended to help students improve theirlanguage proficiency and further their understanding of Japanese societyand culture.■ Short-Term International Student ProgramsKyushu University works collectively and systematically with international students at all stages, from enrollment to careeradvice. The University has been selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) forthe 2014 Top Global University Project and working even harder to increase international student enrollment.KYUSHU UNIVERSITY : DISCOVERY | 23
