Studying Abroad toGain a Global PerspectiveKyushu University School of Agriculture Program:Development of AgriBio Leaders with an International PerspectiveOffered by the university’s School of Agriculture, this program wasselected in 2012 for the MEXT Project for Promotion of Global HumanResources Development, which is aimed at promoting the globalizationof university education. The program seeks to nurture leaders in thefield of agricultural biotechnology who have an international perspectiveas well as a broad knowledge of next-generation technology in this areaand are capable of helping solve global-scale problems.Promoting Individuals Who Can Take on Challengesand Perform on the Global StageBasic Program Elements■ English Skills Enhancement Program (Basic Class / Advanced Class)■ Overseas Program(Overseas English Training Program / Problem-based Learning Program)■ In joint classes with the International Course, students acquire broadbasic knowledge of agricultural biotechnology together with specializedknowledge and skills.These programs are part of international exchangeinitiatives financed by the university-wide fund ofKyushu University. Students go to South Koreaand China for three weeks of language tuition.These programs are intended to motivate studentsto participate in longer-term exchange programsand help them improve their language skills forsuch ventures.Short-Term Language ProgramsThe Japan Student Services Organization implementsa MEXT program for long-term study-abroad supportin the form of a student-exchange support systemfor individuals studying abroad for longer periods oftime.
