Kyu is from Kyushu, Dai is from Daigaku, the Japanese word for University.

The Kuju Agricultural Research Center, a part of University Farm, is located in
the center of the Kuju Highlands in the Aso-Kuju National Park, Oita Prefecture.
It comprises 17 ha of pasturelands at an altitude of about 900m above sea level.
