Nakahigashi and Professor Toshimitsu Kitagawa. Based on their experiences in legal business, each of these speakers emphasized that we should keep an eye open to both global and local standards. This was an important and common theme. In the afternoon, we had a panel discussion moderated by Associate Professor Hiroo Sono. The panel, which comprised the 5 returnees, Mr. Shiro Kuniya, Mr. Kenji Ninomiya, and Mr. Scott Smith, discussed the topic of "Globalization and studying the International Business Law in Japan." Through the discussion, the panel agreed that globalization has become the standard working environment and that we must look closely at the characteristics of local areas to ensure the smooth application of law. This aspect is of educational significance for Kyushu University in the continuation of its special law programs taught in English. The symposium attendees, who filled the hall, also actively exchanged their views on this topic.
During their stay, the 5 returnees also participated in a number of other colorful activities, including a visit to DENSO Co., Ltd., a Japanese company that tackles environmental issues, meeting other international students to exchange their views, and watching sumo wrestling. It seemed they were pleased to return to Fukuoka, and were actively walking around Kyudai and the streets of Hakata renewing their friendships.
