Kyushu University Foreign Students' Association
KUFSA (Kyushu University Foreign Students' Association) is an organization that represents all foreign students enrolled in Kyushu University. All foreign students shall automatically become a member of the association. Nobody, however, can be forced to participate in its activities. The association shall be non-religious, non-political, and it shall be run democratically by the foreign students of Kyushu University. Members do not have to pay any subscription, only the participants to its activities shall bear the expenses of these. The Executive Committee shall be elected to serve for a one-year term starting April 1 of that year until March 31 of the following year.
The major objective of KUFSA is to create a comfortable and pleasant environment for the foreign students of Kyushu University in order to make their stay and studies more fruitful. In order to achieve this, KUFSA will concentrate in the following three areas:
- Providing information necessary for living in Fukuoka
- Promoting mutual understanding and friendship among the foreign students
- Promoting mutual understanding and friendship with students, organizations and citizen of the host country; Japan
To accomplish the tasks mentioned above, the following activities are planned for the academic year 2003-2004.

- Construction and maintenance of a KUFSA Homepage: To provide an on-line source of the important and necessary information for living in Fukuoka and studying in Kyushu University.

- Creating and maintaining a common e-mail list of foreign students: kufsaGM@yahoogroups.com
for disseminating information regarding exchange program and schedule of events in Fukuoka and Kyushu University directly to the students. Membership in the mailing list is on a voluntary basis. Any foreign students of Kyushu University can join, subscribe, unsubscribe, and re-subscribe any time at their own convenience.
- Publication of the KUFSA Newsletter: Interested parties who would like to write or contribute articles to be published in the Newsletter, please e-mail to the Newsletter editor or EX-COM through these addresses:

- Organizing Social and Recreational activities such as:
- I. Fukuoka International Friendship Music Festival (2003/7/5) with Min-On,International Student House,FOSA,KUIFA,SOLA
- II. Bus tours, twice a year (September & March)
- III. Welcome Party (2003/4/12) with International Student House
- IV. Dance party, twice a year (2003/5/23 and in October)
- V. Karaoke contest (2003/8/24)
- VI. Meeting with International Students Association of Niigata University (ISAN) (2003/9/11)
- VII. International Friendship Party at year end (2003/12/12)
- Organizing Sport Tournaments:
- I. Table Tennis Tournament (2003/5/17)
- II. Football Tournament (2003/6/28)
- III. Bowling Tournament (November, planned on 2003/11/15)
- Sponsor Meeting (2003/4/27) at the beginning of the academic year to present our new-year planning and reports to our sponsors and other volunteer groups.
International Friendship Party (2003/12/12) is organized to thank our sponsors and celebrate the year end together with our members and friends.
- Exchange program (in collaboration with other organizations) such as:
- I. Cherry blossom viewing, ume tree planting ceremony and international cooking festival (Dazaifu Tenmangu,Tenjin Stamp)
- II. Bazaar, welcome party, orientation, farewell party, food festival (International Student House, International Student Center, Fukuoka Friendly Club)
- III. Cultural Exchange with foreign studentfs wife: every Wednesday, 14:30-16:00.Tea party, handicraft, tea ceremony,
flower arrangement, etc. (Fukuoka Friendly Club)
- IV. Cross Cultural Understanding Program: every Wednesday,17:00-20:00, at Annex: To make international
understanding through cultural exchange program among and between foreign students and Japanese.(SOLA)
- V. Home stay and camping (Kashima city, Nakagawa town and Hippo Family Club)
- VI. Hiking and mountain climbing (Koga City Climbing Association)
- VII. Japanese festival, Japanese language training, speech competition (Fukuoka Cultural & Art Society, Chisana Kokusai Koryukai)
- VIII. Coffee hour on every Thursday, 17:30-19:00,at the Annex (KUIFA)
- IX. TLT(Tonikaku Letfs Talk) Project: every Thursday, 17:30-18:30, at Culture Cafe: To promote mutual understanding among Japanese students and foreign students. (FUKUTOMO CLUB, FOSA)
