Study in Japan Fair in Egypt

On December 12 at Cairo University and the following day at Alexandria University, Kyushu University held Study in Japan Fair, co-sponsored by Embassy of Japan in Egypt. This fair was held for the second time following the last fiscal year. The number of participants on both days reached approximately 950 exceeding that of last year, with many students joining in from neighboring universities, higher education institutions, and high schools among Egypt.
 The total of eighteen universities and institutions participated the fair including Kyushu University, Tokyo University of Foreign Affairs, and Tokyo Institute of Technology, some participating through distribution of materials. From, Kyushu University, Vice President Koichiro Watanabe, Director of International Department Goro Watanabe and Assistant Professor Hiroko Kinoshita from Office for the Planning and Coordination of International Affairs participated and introduced the University, together with Cairo Office Director Professor Safwat, Vice Director Professor Tamer and others members. On both days the representatives of Embassy of Japan in Egypt explained the concept of EJEP (Egypt Japan Education Partnership), and those from Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt explained how to apply for ODA loan student dispatch and other schemes. After the presentation session, Egyptian students gathered around information booths of each participating university. At our booth in particular, many students who wish to study in Japan came and asked enthusiastic questions about scholarship information and student life.
 Kyushu University established our Cairo Office in 2010 and has been developing collaboration with Egypt, including co-management of education and research activities in Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) project. In addition, the number of Egyptian students at our university amounted to 41 as of May 1, 2017, the largest number among other universities in Japan. A further development of academic exchanges with Egypt is expected in the future.
