Library and Social Integration: Information Resources Open to Society

[Objectives]
A library is an institution that collects and stores various media and information materials and provides them to society at large. According to this concept, libraries should handle all kinds of information in society as materials, but the provision of information through media and means other than books has been lagging behind. Therefore, this symposium will focus on the collection and utilization of materials other than books, and re-examine the role of libraries as centers of information resources that are open to society. In addition, we will discuss the integration of libraries and modern society from the viewpoint of information provision, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), citizen science, and the solution of social issues through libraries.
