The University's Exemption System

1. Tuition Fee Exemption, Enrollment Fee Exemption/Deferment
Kyushu University offers a tuition and enrollment fee exemption (deferment) system for students facing financial difficulties, having exceptional academic performance, or dealing with special circumstances that prevent them from paying their fees. The exemption amounts are either full, half, or one-fourth of the total fees. This is referred to as the "original system." To learn more about eligibility and requirements, please refer to the "Apprication Guidebook" provided below.

2. Emergency Tuition Fee Exemption
This system provides an emergency exemption of tuition fees to students whose household finances have a sudden financial situation change due to the impact of COVID-19. The exemption amount can be full, half, or one-fourth of the tuition fee. For more information on eligibility and other requirements, please refer to the "Application Guidelines for Emergency Tuition Fee Exemption, Spring semester of 2024" provided below.

1. How to apply for tuition fee exemption?
For Current Students enrolled in or before October 2023 and newly-enrolled students in April 2024.
Firstly, please read Application Guidebook below and check the details of the application flow, eligibility, required documents' checklist, submission way/counter, and so on. After you read it and if you are applicable, then wish to apply for our tuition fee exemption, please apply.
Note:
The application procedure has two steps. One is web registration, Step 1, and the second is document submission, Step 2. Applicants have to complete those two steps within each deadline.
2. How to apply for enrollment fee exemption/deferment and tuition fee exemption?
● For Newly-enrolled Students, enroll in April 2024
Please read Application Guidebook below and check the details of the application flow, eligibility, required documents' checklist, submission way/counter, and so on. After you read it and wish to apply for our enrollment fee exemption/deferment and tuition fee exemption, please apply.
Notes:
(1) If you apply for enrollment fee exemption/deferment, please don't pay this fee and submit a"Provisional Application" for this exemption/deferment during the enrollment procedure. A form for Graduate Students is HERE.
(2) You must complete Web registration as Step 1 and Document submission as Step 2 within each deadline.
(3)  For Newly-enrolled Students who haven't received SSO-KID, which needs Step 1
Regarding your SSO-KID, you will receive it after you enter this university. For details, Please contact and ask a student's office of the school to which you belong.

Notes:
(1) If you are a student who enrolled in April or October 2023 and wish to apply for this tuition fee exemption, please apply as a current student within the deadlines above.
(2) Please finish extra time for Step 1 and Step 2; prefer three days before deadlines to submit documents. 
(3) If you do not complete Step 1 and Step 2, your application will be invalid.
(4) Application submission after the deadline is unacceptable for any reason.

4. Result notification 
The result will be notified on the Student Portal System in late July. 

If you get a result except for full exemption, Please finish your payment by the deadline written on your result notification. Please refer to page 9 of the Application guidebook for further details.

5. Forms for application 
Before going to Step 1, please complete the pre-check sheet for practice. This sheet has the same questions as Step 1, and filling in your answers on web registration will be helpful.

Applications receieved after the application dedline will not be accepted for any reason.

3. Notification of results 
Spring semester Emergency Tuition Fee Exemption screening results
are notified on the Student portal System in late July.
Please note that tuition fees other than the full amount will be deducted on July 29.
