In this Nature Masterclasses Manuscript Writing Workshop, current editors of Nature-related journals will guide you through strategies for writing and publishing your manuscript, and also give advice on your manuscript abstract.
This workshop is intended for young to mid-career researchers who are aiming to publish in top journals. We look forward to your participation!

DAY 1: December 4 (Mon) Webinar 1 “Focus on Writing and Publishing”
DAY 2: December 5 (Tue) Abstract Review Session *10 minutes per person
DAY 3: December 6 (Wed) Webinar 2 “Focus on Publishing”
【Eligibility】
Kyushu University Faculty members
(Professor, Associate Professor, Lecturer, Asistant Professor) who:
1. Are able to prepare an abstract of a manuscript (preferably unpublished)
2. Are able to attend all three days of the workshop
3. Will complete two surveys by Nature and the University Office after the workshop

Seating capacity | 30 people, in order of arrival *[Important Note] If the No. of applications exceeds the capacity, priority will be given in the following order:(i) Applicants who have been awarded a KAKENHI* (B) or a competitive grant with an allocation of 5 million yen or more within the past five years as the PI of the project. (ii) Applicants who have been awarded a competitive grant of less than 5 million yen in the past 5 years as the PI of the project. (iii) Applicants other than (i) and (ii) Within each of the (i), (ii), (iii) category, applicants of younger age will be prioritized. |

Event details | 【Lecturer】 Editor 1: Walter Andriuzzi, Senior Editor, Nature Communications After completing his PhD in Soil Ecology at University College Dublin and Wageningen University, Walter investigated above- and below-ground interactions and soil biodiversity under climate change at Colorado State University. Walter handles manuscripts in ecology and conservation biology as a Senior Editor for Nature Communications. Editor 2: Chris Surridge, Chief Editor, Nature Plants After gaining a PhD in Biophysics from Imperial College London studying the dynamics of microtubule assembly, Chris joined the editorial team at Nature, where he has handled topics such as structural biology, neuroscience, and systems biology. He became the Plant Sciences editor of Nature in 1999. From 2009 to 2014, he was the Chief Editor of Nature Protocols. He leads the editorial team as Editor-in-Chief of Nature Plants. |
