The Ropponmatsu Campus, where more than 110,000 students studied from 1921 to 2009, ended its 88-year history after completing relocation to the Ito Campus. The closing ceremony was held at the Ropponmatsu Campus on September 29, 2009. At the ceremony, President Arikawa delivered a speech, saying “The role of the Ropponmatsu Campus has come to an end. However, I hope its spirit will be carried over to the Ito Campus and that we will see a number of talented and extraordinary individuals coming from there as well.” Following the addresses delivered by distinguished guests, the four nameplates on the main entrance were removed.
