Release date: 2009.09.24

Astronaut Koichi Wakata, a graduate of Kyushu University, safely returned to Earth on Friday, July 31, 2009, after a long four-month stay in space.
While the space shuttle Endeavor was landing at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, some 30 students and faculty members were gathered in a seminar room on Ito Campus shortly after 11:00 p.m. to watch his arrival. For this mission, Mr. Wakata boarded the space shuttle with polo shirts bearing Kyushu University logos, which will be returned to the university when he gets back to Japan.
