Response to the Confirmed Cases of the New H1N1 Strain of Influenza at Nanadaisen

10 Kyushu University students who participated in volleyball games at Nanadaisen (the Seven Former Imperial Universities' General Athletic Competition) as players or supporters are presenting fever and other flu symptoms. Students who consulted with medical institutions were confirmed to be infected with influenza A, and one student tested positive for the new influenza virus. This student is currently being treated at home.

The volleyball club and its cheering squad have been ordered by the university to suspend activities until August 16.

Meanwhile, other clubs who were involved in the athletic meet are being requested to take appropriate measures in the

event that any member develops a fever. These measures include refraining from conducting usual activities and paying

special attention to the health status of other members. If you notice changes in your physical condition, such as a fever

during after-school activities, make sure to comply with the instructions described below and report to the Student Affairs

Section Life Services Office (092-642-2246).

Those who participate hereafter in competitions or gatherings such as after-school activities are requested to take preventative measures against infection.
