The 11th of May is the Anniversary of Kyushu University’s founding and the university holds various activities commemorating its anniversary every year.
This year, the commemoration ceremony was held on May 11, (Wednesday) at Shiiki Hall, Ito campus. The ceremony began with President Kubo’s current state of affairs address and recent activities of Kyushu University regarding the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, and then moved to presenting letters of appreciation to people who have made great contributions to the university, Professor Emeritus title conferment as well as the presentations by students who were awarded Yamakawa Prize. Approximately 200 people attended this ceremony and the special lecture by Kosuke Morita, Professor, Faculty of Science.
Besides the ceremony, Kyushu University held ‘Open-door Research Facilities’ and various events which were open to the public at each campus.
