On November 22, 2021, Kyushu University was selected as a Designated National University Corporation by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). As a Designated National University Corporation, Kyushu University will compete with other world-leading universities and actively promote its achievements in furthering economic and social development. The university will play an active role in promoting reform at national universities.
In our role as a Designated National University Corporation, we aim to become an institution that “drives social change with integrative knowledge.” In addition to enhancing our governance and financial position to facilitate university management with corporate points of view, we will tackle pressing social and global issues by leveraging our strengths in the fields of “decarbonization,” “medicine and health,” and “environment and food.” We will also advance education, research, and medical care through digital transformation, develop more robust connections between education, research, and society, and expand our international collaboration.
As a comprehensive university, we will generate integrative knowledge that draws on our wide-ranging expertise in the natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, and design. With the support of the university community both on- and off-campus, we will promote the fruits of this knowledge creation taking place in Fukuoka and Kyushu with the rest of Japan, Asia, and the world. In doing so, we hope to help solve the social issues facing the world today to create a society where sustainable social development and well-being are a reality for all.
Having been selected as a Designated National University Corporation, we will set a course in line with the responsibility this entails and work tirelessly to achieve our vision with the backing of all university members. We ask for your continued support and engagement, without which this vision would not be possible.
