The "Study Abroad Fair 2023" was held for three days from April 25 (Tue.) to 27 (Thu.), 2023, to promote study abroad to a wide range of students, especially new students, by providing basic information on study abroad, what to prepare in advance, exchange programs, short-term study abroad programs, and more.
The Fair had been cancelled or held online for a while due to the impact of the new coronavirus, but this was the first time in four years that it was held in person.
On the first day, Tue. the 25th, the fair opened with the beautiful singing of the university's a cappella student circle "Hamo Q." The first session was a "kick-off" session. In this session, Vice President Johan Lauwereyns gave a remark entitled "Empowering Experiences of Studying Abroad," in which he explained the significance of studying abroad. It was followed by an explanation entitled “Encouraging Studying Abroad” by Associate Professor Hiroko Ikuta of the International Student Center on the significance of studying abroad, various programs, risk management, and other topics, as well as words of encouragement. The participating students listened attentively to her story.
More than 1,000 students attended the 3-day fair, and the participants gave positive feedback about studying abroad, such as "It was useful to learn more about study abroad programs and hear from students who have studied abroad." "I will do my best to prepare for my planned study abroad program this year."
Kyushu University will continue to promote and support students to realize study abroad by providing study abroad related information through the Study Abroad Fair, Study Abroad Guide, study abroad counseling by student peer advisors, and risk management seminars.
