Opening event for Getty project “Shared Coasts, Divided Historiographies”

Lecture, etc. Registration unnecessary

Kyushu University has been awarded a prestigious grant from the Getty Foundation's Connecting Art Histories initiative for a newly-launched project “Shared Coasts, Divided Historiographies”. Kyushu University is the first academic institution in Japan ever to receive a grant from Getty.

This project explores exchanges of people, ideas, and artifacts in this geographical region during two historical periods, the First (1500–1850) and Second (1850–1945) Global Ages, respectively. We will revisit a history of continuous interaction, exchange, and transculturation in the fields of art, historiography, visual and material culture.

We will hold an opening event for the project. The event is available in English and Japanese, and open to everyone.
