Research by Associate Professor Alexander Ryota Keeley of the Faculty of Engineering at Kyushu University has been featured in the position paper titled "Five years to course correct: Science and engineering for a world off track." The report was published by the International Science Council (ISC) and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) for the 2025 United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF).
This position paper aims to promote evidence-based policy-making and practical solutions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It presents 17 exemplary research case studies selected through rigorous evaluation from around the world.
Associate Professor Keeley’s research, titled "From research to impact: transforming sustainability data disclosure from cost to investment through science-based AI modeling," has been prominently highlighted. His work involves developing AI-driven Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data assessment tools, enabling companies to strategically shift sustainability disclosure from cost to investment. These tools have been adopted widely by companies in Japan and internationally through aiESG, Inc., a startup originating from Kyushu University. Furthermore, the research outcomes have been further enhanced for social implementation by aiESG, Inc., significantly contributing to global ESG promotion by aligning with international standards such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).
Kyushu University will continue to leverage scientific insights to address societal challenges and contribute to the international community.
