On April 25, 2025, Kyushu University’s international undergraduate programs in the Schools of Agriculture and Engineering launched a new educational initiative in collaboration with the International Liberal Arts Course at Higashi Fukuoka High School. Using English as a common language, it brings together international university students and high school students to explore and address social issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.
A total of 18 international students from Kyushu University and 37 students from Higashi Fukuoka High School participate in the program(project?). Under the coordination of Kecher Africa, an educational support organization active in international civic activities, all activities are conducted in English. The program(project) combines in-person and online sessions, provides a valuable opportunity for participants from diverse backgrounds to learn from one another and broaden their perspectives.
Participants will present practical proposals addressing SDG-related challenges during a midterm presentation in May and a final presentation in July. In addition, students will take part in Kecher Africa’s educational support activities. This unique educational initiative aims to foster global awareness, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities, offering young people a meaningful platform for hands-on global engagement.
