Kyushu University students participate in Pusan National University Summer School 2025

From August 3 to 22, 2025, three students from Kyushu University participated in the PNU Summer School 2025, hosted by Pusan National University (PNU) in Busan, South Korea.
This three-week intensive program was designed to encourage the participation of Japanese students, combining Korean language learning with field trips and cultural experiences. Kyushu University and Pusan National University have a university-wide bilateral agreement, and both are members of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU). The program invitation was shared with Kyushu University through this international network, which led to the students’ participation.

The participating students were:

  • Reimei Mitsuyasu (Fourth-year, School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation)
  • Yoshiko Kusano (Fourth-year, School of Design)
  • Wakana Okamoto (Third-year, School of Design)

Kyushu University remains committed to cultivating globally engaged leaders who can address diverse challenges in international society. Through active participation in international consortia and academic networks, the university continues to provide students with opportunities to grow as future changemakers on the global stage.

Program overview

Participants at the PNU Summer School 2025

  • Period: August 3–22, 2025 (20 days)
  • Location: Busan, South Korea (Pusan National University)
  • Travel expenses and participation Fee: Free. This was fully supported by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED), South Korea.
  • Eligibility (Japan side): 20 undergraduate students enrolled at Japanese universities
    * Individual invitations will be sent to Japanese universities that are members of APRU.

Program:
The program consisted of two parts, combining technical education and cultural experiences.

Two weeks: Technical training at Hyundai Motor Company’s Ulsan Plant, focusing on the design and implementation of autonomous vehicle frames and algorithms, carried out using 3D printing technology.

One week: Korean language and cultural immersion, including Korean calligraphy, Taekwondo, and K-pop dance classes

Kyushu University aims to cultivate individuals who proactively address diverse global challenges by leveraging international consortia such as APRU. Through these efforts, we strive to nurture the next generation of leaders who will drive progress on the world stage.
