A live two-way broadcast was conducted on Thursday, March 2, 2009, connecting Kyushu University with astronaut Koichi Wakata, a Kyushu University graduate who was staying aboard the International Space Station (ISS) after leaving Earth on the USA space shuttle Discovery, which launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
During the live two-way broadcast, Mr. Wakata sent messages to Kyushu University students, saying, “Thank you for gathering. I hope that some of you will be involved in space activities in the future. Please work hard toward your dreams and goals. I am looking forward to talking about what I experienced with you when I go back to Fukuoka after this mission.”
