On Saturday, May 7, 2016, the meeting of Kyushu University’s Alumni Association in China was held in Beijing, China. The event was attended by over 100 former international students from various regions in China, as well as President Kubo and Goro Watanabe, Executive Director of International Affairs Department.

President Kubo gave a lecture on "Prospects of Medicine and Medical Care in Japan - History of Psychosomatic Medicine” in the symposium in which Dr. Shumin Duan, Chair of the Alumni Association in China, was the master of the ceremony. The lecture engaged participants in actively discuss its topics beyond the scheduled time. One of the members from the association also gave a lecture. It was a good opportunity to know that Chinese alumni have been succeeding in diverse fields in China.

After the symposium, a reception was held at the same venue. Firstly, Mr. Shi Ningzhong, Honorary Chair of the association proposed a toast. Many alumni gathered around President Kubo to hear the current situation of Kyushu University, talked fondly of their memories as students and took pictures with the President. Dr. Min Song, Director of Beijing Office, introduced their work and outstanding alumni in China. Finally, a commemorative photo was taken while all present were singing the almamater song "Matsubara-ni," with great gusto. The event ended with a promise to meet again.

We have raised money at the event to support students affected by Kumamoto Earthquake and the participation fees of the event were also partially donated.

Since alumni associations play an important role in University’s development, Kyushu University continues to be engaged in promoting and strengthening the connection with the associations.
