ASEAN in Today's World (AsTW) 2024 held at Mahidol University in Thailand

ASEAN in Today's World (AsTW) was held at Mahidol University from March 11 to March 21, 2024.

This program, developed by Kyushu University, aims to cultivate individuals who will become key players in the future of Asian relations. The focus is on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region, which has recently been gaining significant influence in the global political economy. This year's program marks the 16th iteration and was attended by 43 participants, including students from Kyushu University and international students from ASEAN countries. Participants from Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia took part in the two-week program, sharing classes and daily life experiences, leading to active international exchange and mutual understanding of different cultures.

President Ishibashi attended the opening ceremony on March 11. He delivered a welcoming speech in front of the participating students and representatives from the collaborating universities (Mahidol University, Ateneo de Manila University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, University of Malaya and Universitas Gadjah Mada).

At the closing ceremony on Thursday, March 21, each student received a certificate of participation from Professor Iwata, Director of the Kyushu University International Student Center. Following the ceremony, participants departed for their respective countries, with some showing signs of fond farewell.

AsTW 2025 is scheduled to be held at Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia as a joint hosting institution.
