The latest results of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, released on June 18, highlight Kyushu University’s significant achievements. These rankings assess the degree of social contribution of each university based on its efforts toward the internationally recognized Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and consist of a comprehensive overall ranking, as well as individual rankings by specific SDGs.
This year, marking the fourth time we have participated, Kyushu University ranked 30th in SDG9 Innovation, 86th in SDG6 Water and Sanitation, and 87th in SDG14 Marine Resources, cementing our place in the world’s top 100 in these three areas.
Going forward, Kyushu University will continue to use “integrative knowledge” to strengthen our education, research, and collaborations focused on the SDGs, moving toward a sustainable society.
Overall ranking: 101–200th out of 2,318 participating universities (101–200th last year)
Domestic ranking: joint second with three other universities out of 68 participating universities (third last year)

86th place: SDG6 Water and Sanitation (22nd last year)
