On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, a recognition ceremony was held for the Kyushu University Alumni Association of the Philippines (Kyōdaikai). The association was officially registered as one of Kyushu University’s overseas alumni associations in May 2025.

The event was facilitated by Executive Vice President Yoshimi Sonoda, who oversees the Alumni Associations. Kyushu University President Tatsuro Ishibashi and President Ronald P. De Vera of the Kyushu University Alumni Association of the Philippines delivered remarks. The certificate and the university flag were presented to President De Vera to mark the official recognition as one of Kyushu University’s overseas alumni associations.
After the ceremony, the participants exchanged opinions on the relationship between the Philippines and Kyushu University.

Recognizing the Kyushu University Alumni Association of the Philippines, we aim to promote further collaboration between Kyushu University and universities in the Philippines by encouraging the enrollment of international students from the Philippines to Kyushu University and strengthening mutual relationships.

Kyushu University has been diligently pursuing stronger ties with alumni associations both in Japan and overseas.

Several overseas alumni associations have already joined the Kyushu University Alumni Association, a federation of departmental alumni associations and regional alumni associations. To broaden the scope of exchange and collaboration, a new registration system for overseas alumni associations was launched in February 2020.
