Kyushu University signs university-level agreement with IIT Hyderabad

On July 6, 2026, Kyushu University and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad held an online signing ceremony to formalize a university-level academic cooperation and student exchange agreement.

Recent collaborations and exchanges between the two institutions include the Kyushu University Forum “KYUDAI NOW*” held in January 2026, where researchers from both universities engaged in active academic discussions and research exchanges.  In March 2026, Professor B. S. Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, paid a courtesy visit to President Tatsuro Ishibashi of Kyushu University. During the meeting, both parties shared the view that there is significant potential for future collaboration, including applications to the LOTUS Program and the further expansion of joint research activities. Building on these discussions, the two institutions agreed to establish a university-level partnership to further strengthen and expand their cooperation, leading to the conclusion of this agreement.

Following opening remarks by President Ishibashi and Director Murty, the agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Amar Pal Meena, Consul at the Consulate General of India in Fukuoka, and Ms. Kyoko Nakano, a JICA expert assigned to IIT Hyderabad.

After the ceremony, participants discussed opportunities to strengthen collaboration between the two universities. Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in the fields of education and research and to advancing academic exchange in the years ahead.
