The opening ceremony for the Research Center for Advanced Particle Physics (RCAPP) was held at the Hakozaki Campus on Monday, October 1st, 2012.
Since the Faculty of Sciences established the Experimental Particle Physics Lab last year, Kyushu University has been advancing particle physics, the ultimate big science, by utilizing the university reform activation system and other means. Last July, new particles believed to be Higgs boson were discovered at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) of CERN, and the International Linear Collider (ILC) Project is also attracting attention as a next-generation accelerator project. In these circumstances, we opened this research center to form an international hub for research and education in particle physics at the university. This center is an education and research facility for common university use, and comprises two experimental divisions and one theory division.
