Ito Guest House offers new accommodations for researchers who come to Ito Campus from both inside and outside Japan, and its completion was marked by an opening ceremony on April 12, 2012.
This three-story guest house is one of the largest all-wood public buildings in Fukuoka. It has a total floor space of 2,110m2 including 33 individual rooms, meeting rooms and a multipurpose hall. About 60% of the wood used for construction was logged in Fukuoka.
The Japanese-style appearance of the guest house is in tune with the rich natural environment surrounding Ito Campus, and well balanced to provide comfort for both Japanese and foreign researchers alike. This symbolic facility is expected to be a place of exchange between residents, as well as between residents and locals, encouraged by various events held both on campus and elsewhere.
